Rise of the Superbugs, Dr. Greger's New Lecture and Reaching the GMO Rejection Tipping Point

Updates:

In my last post, I should have included this documentary.  I didn't see it until after I posted, however.   I love Dr. Mercola's site - so informative ( I butt heads with him on promoting animal products as healthful though.)  Please take a look at this documentary called, "Rise of the Superbugs."  I have discussed how bad it is for people to use antibiotics like they're drinking water.  It is causing serious problems for the future.  Luckily, we are an informed crowd and know about alternative home remedies of healing like juice fasting, hydrotherapy and herbs.  DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THEIR VALUE!  Make it a priority to get the books I have recommended just in case you need them.  Have high quality medicinal herbs stocked in your home.  You never know when they can come in handy.  Make it a priority to read as much as you can about these methods.

I'm gearing up to do my post on Charcoal.  I just attended a seminar in Silver Spring, MD to brush up on my facts.  I also picked up second charcoal book to cross reference.  I'm totally blown away but what this simple, humble product of nature is able to do.  I've heard it been called "black magic."  Yep, it's pretty darn close to it.  Next post!

Lecture by  Dr. Michael Greger.

Dr. Greger has recently posted his lecture, "More Than An Apple a Day: Combating Common Diseases."  It recently went viral!  His delivery is also quite humorous (not for younger viewers).  I love the power of a plant based diet in being able to prevent and reverse the most common diseases.  He reviews the latest nutritional literature and has daily, weekly videos that are very informative.  Check out his lecture here.

Reaching the GMO rejection tipping point

When I went to Jeffrey Smith's lecture in D.C.  He mentioned that when we reach a enough people who reject GMO's, manufacturers will begin dumping them from their products.  I keep hearing that we are not far off.  I recently saw a map of the world that showed how many countries have GMO labeling laws or have banned GMO foods altogether.  What is so disturbing is how the United States is completely blank on this map.   You may view the map here.  There must be some caustic miasma that hangs thick in the air in D.C. that makes all these politicians fall into a trance and forget their campaign promises.  I am not singling out any political party.  Both sides have their hands dirty with hush money.  This is why it is up to everyday people to reject GMO foods.  Do we really want the makers of DDT, Agent Orange and Roundup tinkering with the genetics of our food?  Certain businesses recognize the need to go GMO free.  Trader Joe's private label has been GMO free for some time now.  Whole Foods seems to be heading in that direction.  You can see where they stand on GMO's here.  Chipotle's will begin to label their GMO foods and eventually eliminating them from the menu altogether.   I say, let's support the businesses that are transparent and working towards eliminating GMO's from their foods.
As for the those that don't well, Kroger's will begin to carry GMO salmon.  Tsk Tsk Kroger!  If you eat salmon, you may want to consider getting Alaskan wild caught instead.

I recently read that wild animals prefer non- gmo foods as well.  Too cute!  Check it out here.

Have a great day!

Modern Medicine- The Multi-Billion Dollar Hustle

True healing is easy and inexpensive.  Yes, you read that right.  It's easy.  Healing comes about when we seek to instruct ourselves in the unwritten laws that come from the natural world.  They are the laws that do not come from illustrious medical institutions or the venerable pharmaceutical laboratories.  True healing can be found in the humble foods, plants and methods that are usable and attainable by everyone.  These methods are not difficult to learn; it only takes time and willingness to read and research. You might read the title of this post and think that I have anger or resentment towards professionals in the medical field.  Please don't misunderstand me,   I believe that there is a place and necessity for modern medicine.  I do wish, however, that the governing institutions which decide what gets taught in medical school or what information is shared publicly - such as the A.M.A. and F.D.A. - would be forthright with the information they disseminate.  I believe that truth is suppressed in order to promote more financially lucrative treatment methods.  How many countless lives could have been spared such pain if truth were allowed to flourish?  I will say one more thing: Benefiting at the expense of others who suffer needlessly and often die prematurely is nothing short of evil. I say this because so many submit to conventional medical "wisdom" while trusting the prescribed remedy and those who have promoted such treatment. Now if it is known that such "remedies" are not only inferior to alternative natural healing methods, but often times completely ineffective - or worse, harmful to the patient - and yet, for the sake of profit, they are still promoted and prescribed as the patient's best source of hope, THAT is nothing short of evil.  It is comparable to a thug on the street killing for money, except these A.M.A. and F.D.A.thugs have gleaming white coats and impressive letters behind their names.

The must-see articles and videos

I have been coming across several articles in regard to this topic that I would like to share with you (check links for articles).  Those in power know that if Doctors were to instruct their patients how to live to create health, they will no longer be able to make money.  Things may be changing in California.  A bill was introduced to mandate doctors to receive training in nutrition, but the California Medical Association is already fighting to stop the bill (Really?  Who will it harm for doctors to know the effect of eating an orange on the human body?)  Watch it here.  To add insult to injury, the Supreme Court has granted immunity to pharmaceutical companies from litigation because of side effects by drugs.  Despite efforts to suppress the truth and protect big pharma, there are doctors who are stumbling upon information and forced to make a decision.  The arrogant ones will always scoff, but there are physicians with a conscience who cannot turn their back on the information they learn.  What they incorporate into their way of living changes not only their lives, but also the lives and health of patients who come to them for healing.  Read this testimonial of a physician, Dr. James Loomis, who is now informed and transforming the way he practices medicine.

Healing begins in turning to nature

Nutrition is the first step in healing.  a high raw plant based diet will correct about 80% of conditions.  Turning to herbs, hydrotherapy, charcoal, massage and chiropractic can help in many others.  My upcoming natural remedy posts will cover charcoal, green clay, and massage.

Have a great day!

Two Amazing Transformational Stories

I love to see when someone grabs hold of the power of plant foods and uses it to transform their lives!  Sometimes radically!  I want to share with you two testimonials that are absolutely amazing and inspiring.  The first is of a woman who reversed her cancer by going on a 100% raw food diet.  She also used other methods that included juice fasting.  Her physical transformation alone is amazing.  She went from unfit and sickly to absolutely glowing with life.  She also experienced an emotional transformation.  I think it's inevitable.  If you understand what plant foods can do, especially when raw, you'll know that they can make you happy just to be alive.

The second is of another woman who switched to a plant based diet, although not 100% raw.  100% raw is great for reversing the irreversible but not everyone needs to go that far.  Take a look at this inspiring story!

The Unexpected Benefits of Grounding

It's spring time in Maryland and I'm thrilled.  I love to see the snow drops and crocus flowers popping up out of the ground this time of year.   It is cold today but I don't care.  My favorite season is right around the corner and that's enough to send my spirits soaring.  I love the warmer weather, the fragrances, colors and sounds of the season.  One of my favorite things to do has always been to walk barefoot in grass.  As much as I was scolded by my mom for doing so, I never understood why I loved it so much, I just did.  As I have become acquainted with grounding, or earthing, I have a better understanding why I so love being outside soaking up rays and walking barefoot in the grass.

Earthing/grounding sounds like a concept that originated with some Eastern swami guru.  I can imagine an aging man sitting in lotus position and chanting "om." I can imagine him communicating the idea of connecting with your surroundings, the earth, the universe....  But the origins of earthing are far from what I just described.  As a matter of fact, there are many scientific studies that I find absolutely astounding.  It's no secret that I love alternative methods for healing.  There is a limit to what I will ascribe to, however.  Without naming therapies, I prefer therapies that are more tangible in nature.  I need to be able to wrap my brain around an idea and understand it.  I prefer to see studies and science.  Just my personal preference.

Just a Cable Guy
Clint Ober is just a cable guy (his term to describe himself, not mine).  He had been an extremely successful businessman "specializing in developing cable television systems, as well as broadcast television and microwave communication properties."  (Earthing - Ober, Sinatra and Zucker p27)  During a time of self reflection over his life accomplishments, he had a growing desire for purpose in his life.  It was during this time that he had a stroke of genius while watching tourists walk by.  He looked at their feet and understood that they were insulated from the electrical current that is available by walking barefoot.  Clint had a firm grasp on the properties of electromagnetic radiation.  He understood that for the picture quality to come through crisp and clear on a television, the lines had to be grounded and insulated from all the extraneous air waves that pollute our environment.  He wondered what would happen if people were to connect electrically to the ground.  He then proceeded to find out. He first started by grounding himself and then grounding his friends.  His experience was to sleep so soundly that he did not stir until the next morning.  His friends were beginning to feel really good as well.  They mentioned being able to get off medications because arthritis symptoms were beginning to disappear.  Clint Ober had just stumbled upon a very important concept unknown to the "civilized world."

Ober also had a recollection of a Native American family he knew growing up in Montana.   His friend's sister became very ill with scarlet fever.   Her grandfather proceeded to dig a pit, built a fire close by and set the girl in the pit while he watched over her.  She consequently recovered very quickly.  He remembers the adults telling the children.  Take your shoes off, they will make you sick.  The native people of this land are far better acquainted with nature than the rest of us "civilized" people are.  Our ignorance of the gifts found in nature has been much to our detriment.

What Are Negative Ions/Electrons?
So what is it that we receive when we walk barefoot on the ground?  They are called negative ions.  It's the reason why so many people love to walk barefoot on the beach, spend time in natural settings or, as in my case, run trails in the woods.  The air is replete with negative ions.  Compare that feeling to being cooped up stories high in an office building, perhaps in a cubicle behind a computer screen.  No sun or fresh air and no electrical connection to the ground, and nothing but endless electrical lines, computer cables, electronics cords, etc. emitting harmful electromagnetic radiation. On the contrary, naturally occurring negatively charged ions or electrons behave like antioxidants in the body, discharging unhealthful positive ions.  (When it comes to electrical charges in the body, "positive" is bad and "negative" is good.) Negative ions help to calm inflammation and enhance sleep.

Some Interesting Clips
Now this is the stuff that blows me away! If you've already seen this clip from Longevity Now conference, skip it - but I had to share it again.  You can read  this article from natural news or this oneWatch this excellent video by Dr. Sinatra at heartmdinstitute.com.  Even the illustrious Dr. Oz chimed in on the practice of grounding.  So what is the take away point from this post?  As the weather gets warmer, get outside with your bare feet and enjoy the great outdoors!  Take time to do so everyday.  If you have trouble with sleep or inflammation, consider grounding yourself while you sleep. Grounding sheets can be costly but there are other less expensive options like just buying a grounding pad.  A friend of mine who is electronically inclined made his own for less than twenty dollars.

As For the Scoffers...
I recognize that there are many scoffers in regards to this practice.  There are a lot of things I believe that people would laugh at.  I believe that cancer can be reversed naturally.  I believe that if the human body can heal, it is in spite of  the medications we subject it to.   I believe that there is an intelligence and purposeful support of life behind the healing properties of the natural world.  The food and herbs that grow from the earth imbue healing and strength to the human body by design and not by accident. Grounding or earthing is just another piece of the puzzle that fits in so well.

Consider Also:
Artificial lighting during the night shift triggers breast cancer in women - but moonlight is the exception.  Did you know that if our planet's orbit were shifted by even a slight margin, it would be unsuitable to sustain life?  Is it any wonder I have such a fascination with the natural world?  What also amazes me is how the ingredients for healing are so much more affordable than conventional medicine.  I mean, come on!  Dandelion greens have anti-cancer properties? Wow! The humble ingredients and methods have outperformed and confound the methods of the lofty and the learned!  With all the talk of nationalized healthcare, all we need to do is look to natural methods for a more economical and far more effective way to create health.  Then hospitals could serve a better purpose - treating emergencies.  How's that for some juicy skeptic fodder?

Enjoy the Journey!

My Story Of Healing

A Few Updates

When I decided to do a post on reversing cancer naturally, I had no idea I would find so much information on the topic. Here is yet another article of a test which inadvertantly uncovered that chemotherapy makes cancer more aggressive.  Oops... wouldn't want to let that cat out of the bag!  Take the time to read it - very interesting!

I follow a site called nutritionfacts.org.  The man who heads it up is Dr. Michael Greger, MD.  One of his recent posts is Cancer-Proofing Your Body. Excellent article and video (Ex Vivo Cancer Proliferation video only 3 minutes long)

Recently, I walked into Roots, my health food store.  Just outside of the store was an easel advertising a health lecture with Dr. Michael Greger.  I just about fell off my rocker!  It will be held at my favorite restaurant Great Sage in Clarksville, MD.  The title of the class is, "The Role of Diet in Preventing, Treating and Reversing the Fifteen Leading Causes of Death"  It will take place Monday, February 25 from 7 to 8:30.  You know where I'll be!

My Roller Coaster Ride of Healing

There are times when I don't particularly enjoy sharing things about myself. I don't mean sharing fun stories from my childhood or things of that sort. It's the more personal stuff that I find hard to share. However, I do go against my natural inclination to keep things private when I believe that what I share might benefit someone.  If I can inspire someone or help someone along in their quest for healing, then it's worth it to me.  This past August I took off on a road trip with my family across the country.  Little did I know that it would also take me on a roller coaster ride of emotions, crippling pain, frustration and finally, after some time, healing.  I endured this for four long months.  December is when I got better.   It has taken me a while to muster up the will to write this post.

When I go on vacation I find it difficult to eat as much raw food as I normally do at home.  In that case, I decide to eat as healthfully as possible and just eat what my family eats.  For the trip I kept a cooler of sandwich ingredients ready for meals on the go.  At our first stop in Michigan I began to notice a rash on my elbow.  Up until the trip I had been running trails in the woods and it looked like poison ivy, so I didn't give it much thought.  At about the same time I began to notice pain in my hip.  By the time we got to the Mall of America in Minneapolis, I was in so much pain I could barely even walk.  My husband had to push me around in a wheelchair at the mall.  I am very physically driven and being pushed in a wheelchair was quite unsettling for me.  I just chalked it up to my body being out of alignment.  I would simply make an appointment with my DNFT chiropractor when I returned home to fix the problem.

We got home, I made my appointment to see the chiropractor and I researched herbs that helped skin rashes.  Weeks passed and I couldn't fix the problem.  As a matter of fact, the rash continued to spread over my body.  By this time I was in tears and emotionally leveled.  This wasn't supposed to happen to me!  Not with the way I eat and live!  I went to the doctor to appease my mother.  As expected, I received a prescription for my skin which I just crumpled up and tossed.  I can be a rebellious patient when it comes to conventional medicine.  In desperation I began talking to friends about what I was dealing with.  Two friends helped me to figure out what I was dealing with and I can't even begin to express my gratitude for their help and intuitiveness.  The first is my friend Michelle Ross, the nutritionist I've mentioned before in this blog.   Second was my friend Bodil who is a nutritionally trained nurse practitioner.  Michelle mentioned to me that it sounded like it could be an auto-immune condition.  Those words took a few days to register in my brain but eventually a light bulb went off in my head.

The Apple Does Not Fall Far from the Tree

My father was obsessive about fitness and in his prime was running up to 70 miles a week.  His running came to a screeching halt when he began to have symptoms of a certain condition - he was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. This type of arthritis affects the joints as well as the skin.  I also discovered that this type of arthritis runs in my father's family.  Bingo!  My Dad is taking medication for his conditions and is doing well.  (I attribute his uncommonly healthful condition to his clean diet, juicing and green smoothies.  The doctors are baffled at how well he is doing.)  Being the person that I am, I wanted to avoid the medications at all cost.  I made an appointment to see my friend, the nurse practitioner.  She ran blood work for me and told me to go on an elimination diet. I asked her if she thought I would need to go on medication.  I wanted to see how she responded.  Her answer was the most melodious sound to my ears, "That is up to you!"  I felt so empowered by both of my friends to pursue my healing without drugs.

My diet was stripped down to the basics:   She put me on 100% organic rice and some vegetables.  Every three days I would reintroduce another food into my diet.  To make a long story short I have had to eliminate certain foods from my diet.  I can no longer have gluten in my diet.  All the gluten in my sandwiches on my trip probably triggered my condition.  Also, I had my cheat meals at church potlucks which I'm sure contain GMO's.  GMO's are ultimately responsible for so many autoimmune conditions and food sensitivities.  I have become allergic to certain nuts.  As long as I can be strict with my diet, I do not feel any symptoms.  My skin which was so raw, bloody and paper-like from scratching so much is soft again and completely healed.  My hips that caused me so much pain, are no longer causing me trouble.  It has been months since I was running and have resorted to spin classes to maintain fitness. (I'm looking into getting a mountain bike just like my dad did when he dealt with his arthritis.) I have recently been getting back on the treadmill and  I haven't had the horrible recurrence of pain.  I've lost a lot of stamina but, thank God I can walk without pain and even run a little!  (I am very tentative in regards to running, but I feel like I just might be able to return to my trails again.)

A New Way to Eat

It has been such a challenge readjusting my diet and finding equilibrium that is right for me.  For a couple of years I had been eating 90 to 95% raw.  I can no longer maintain that.  In speaking with Michelle Ross, she said that some people can thrive on a 100% raw diet, but not everyone can.  She says it is excellent for the purpose of reversing chronic disease, but then you have to reevaluate and readjust.  My goal is maintaining alkilinity and so I now am eating 75 to 80% raw and have added some more cooked food back into my diet.  Since doing this I noticed that my energy levels have shot through the roof.

This whole experience has been very humbling for me.  I struggled so much with feelings of failure.  I also felt a responsibility for being honest with my readers.  I would much rather disclose the truth than try to save face.  Pay attention to the cues your body is telling you.  Use your symptoms as a guide and don't mask them with medication.  Find a naturopath, nutritionist or a nutritionally trained doctor/health practitioner!  (The standard four hours of archaic nutrition most doctors get doesn't count for me)  Be relentless until you fully arrive at the health you want to have.  Easier said than done, I know. But yes, it can be done! I plan to do a cleanse using products from Dr. Schulze.  I want to see how my body will respond.  His cleanses are powerful for restoring optimal health.  (Check out his latest blog post)  I'll be sure to let you know how that goes!

Antioxidants and Free Radicals at the Molecular Level

Antioxidant electron stabalizing a free radical
At the Natural Remedies Workshop at Andrews University, I learned something amazing about how antioxidants and free radicals work at the molecular level.  Our cells are made up of many molecules.  When we compromise our health by eating the wrong foods and top that off with stress, drugs and negative emotions, we create free radicals in our bodies.  (As you probably already know, free radicals are responsible for creating a myriad of diseases and premature aging.) The molecules of a free radical lose an electron and become very unstable.  In an attempt to create balance again, the molecule goes in search of another electron, stealing it from another molecule.  This makes the molecule that has lost an electron unstable as well.  This process continues until the cell's health is compromised to the point of mutation, creating an environment that is highly reactive and unstable.  Cancer is a disease that is comprised of cells that multiply out of control because they are mutated.  With this in mind, one can understand the reason for concern about eating foods from plants that have been genetically modified (GMO foods).  The solution to counteract oxidation at the cellular level is to consume antioxidant rich foods.  The picture above illustrates that antioxidants have many electrons and they behave in the body by donating electrons to unstable molecules that are incomplete, making the molecule stable again.  This process in which antioxidants restore stability to unstable molecules helps reverse major degenerative diseases.  Fascinating isn't it?  So what does this mean to us in practical terms?  Eat an overabundance of fruits and vegetables!  Check out this YouTube clip that illustrates this process.

The Benefits of Drinking Green Tea

I don't do well driving long distances.  I don't mind being driven, I just prefer not to drive.  Something about the movement of the vehicle that just lulls me to relaxation and slumber. I generally avoid caffeine from coffee because to me it's just another drug to get addicted to, so when I need to drive a long distance, I choose to drink green tea.  Caffeine from coffee makes me feel like I'm wired and on overdrive; I hate that feeling.  Not to mention that the coffee itself can irritate my stomach.  Green Tea gives me just enough alertness (70% less caffeine than coffee) to stay focused on the task at hand.  I also love all the many health benefits that go along with this wonderful ceremonial beverage.

I do not skimp when I buy green tea.  It costs more to get a good quality green tea.  The less processed it is, the more antioxidant power you get from it.  Green tea has many anticancer properties, it aids in heart health and diabetes prevention.  It aids in weight loss and can stave off dementia. I have some Matcha Green Tea, but there are other varieties that are great as well.  So next time you need a boost, try out some green tea and see if it works for you.  Check out this youtube clip on green tea.

Battle of the Diet Gurus

I saw this clip and wanted to share it with you.  It is very telling!  From time to time, I hear from different people that they are going to try this diet or that.  When I see them again after some time, they still look like they are struggling with weight.  So, what do I think of the Atkins Diet?  Oh, you may lose weight but you just might die of a heart attack in the process.  Take a look at these weight loss gurus and tell me what you think!

Two Excellent Articles by Natural News

I just posted today but I received an email from my friend Don.  Don and I partner up to do raw food seminars from time to time.  This is what he sent me.  It is an article on Kirlian Photography of organic raw foods compared to conventional, cooked or pasteurized produce.  Amazing!  I also found another article on raw foods and brain performance.  Have a wonderful weekend!

More Programs to Transition to a Plant Based Diet

I don't remember how I got acquainted with the Green Smoothie Girl website and book.  I believe a friend may have introduced me to it.  All I know is that I love Robyn's site and the work she is doing to help people get healthy.  I used her book and how-to info when I first was increasing my raw food intake.  I never looked back after I  began making green smoothies.  Robyn Openshaw also has a great program to help those interested in transitioning to a plant based diet- 12 Steps to Whole Food Eating.  She has recipes and guidelines for a gradual transition over the course of a year.  Her programs includes 550 recipes to help someone achieve a mostly raw diet(60-80%raw).  She does allow for a small percentage of animal based foods, I believe it consists of less than five percent of  the eating plan.  Again, she has testimonials of people who have been written off by their doctors.

Since I have mentioned green smoothies I feel like I should also mention the Boutenko family.  They also have books on green smoothies with how-to videos on youtube and great sources for getting well.

I want to share an excellent cook book I use to prepare food for my family.  Although my husband and children are eating much more raw food today than when I first started this journey, they still aren't as “raw”as I am.  This book is Ten Talents by Frank and Rosalie Hurd.  I love this book!  It is chock full of useful  nutritional information, instructions on proper food combining, recipes for baby foods, smoothies, non-dairy milk, whole grain bread, healthful entrees, salads and desserts...shall I continue? They also include some raw food recipes and sprouting (one of my favorite topics).  Ten Talents was originally published in the 60's and has had a long successful run.  The Hurds had every intention of hanging up their hats and retiring but requests kept coming in for a new edition to their book, so by popular demand they have published again.  Vegetarian times and North American Vegetarian society both endorse this book  The Library of Congress has requested it to be transcribed into braille.  Not bad for what seemingly was a mom and pop endeavor!  They have produced a fine collection of delicious recipes and have helped many achieve excellent health.

Lastly, I would like to mention Markus Rothkranz and his site.  He also has a lot of information for those wanting to go completely raw.  His trailer is very inspirational but has parts that are...um, let's just say that they are really corny! Shh!  Don't tell him I said so!  View trailer here.

Famous Vegan or Vegetarian Bodybuilders and Athletes

I was searching for raw recipes online when I found this clip on youtube.  I had seen it before but had forgotten about it.  It is incredibly inspiring.  If you think that you will become a skinny, protein deficient waif from a plant based diet, think again!

You may need to right click on the link and open in a new window.  I can't figure out why you tube has this glitch in some browsers.
