The End Of Antibiotics?

I have mentioned my concern for the increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistant superbugs on this blog.  I saw this very important article which include an excellent PBS documentary and had to share it.  Not only are there virulent strains of bugs that have become stronger than the antibiotics we have on the market, but pharmaceutical companies no longer plan to invest in making any new ones.  Not enough profit to make it worth it to them.  The implications are serious to say the least.  It is for this reason I have been emphatic that we become familiar with "antibiotics" we can find in nature.  Two I have mentioned are garlic and oregano (used in conjunction with hydrotherapy. ) Please take the time to read this article and strongly consider self-educating in regards to natural remedies.  I believe it very well may be what we need to fall back on in the future.

Watch- The Cause Is The Cure

I love, love, love Chris Wark's blog!  He shares so much amazing information! It's such a shame that the conversation of reversing cancer naturally is one that flows in the undercurrent and is so far from being mainstream.  Before I fall off the radar, I wanted to share a documentary, "The Cause is the Cure" that relates the testimonials of five people who reversed their cancer without chemo or radiation.  Chris Wark was asked to share it far and wide.  I also wanted to help spread the word.  Here is a great video by Maximized Living that you should watch which features the book Cancer Killers.  You can also get more information about Maximized Living from their website.  The cure is so basic, so easy and sadly has been purposefully hidden from view.  Here is Chris Wark's post on the documentary, "The Cause is the Cure".  Be sure to watch it on October 5!

Fighting Cancer With Food, Pink Ribbons Inc. and a New World Record by Vegan Athlete Patrick Baboumian

Vegan Athlete Patrick Baboumian

Update

I have been very emphatic in this blog on how we have more control over cancer than we think.  We can change how hospitable our bodies are to cancer by the food we eat, the chemicals we expose ourselves to and the positive or negative thoughts we have. I wanted to bring a very interesting lecture to your attention.  Roots Market in Olney, MD will be hosting a program titled,"Fighting Cancer with Food".  It will take place on Monday October 21st.  You can find more detailed information here.

There is also a documentary titled,"Pink Ribbons, Inc." which is an expose on this seemingly humanitarian fund raising event.  You can view it here on Chris Wark's latest blog post.

Power Vegan Athlete Patrick Baboumian

I can't tell you how many times I encounter crazy biases against a plant based diet.  I remember one woman who heard about the way I eat and she said in response, is her hair falling out?  People with zero knowledge about nutrition are usually the most outspoken.  The idea that there is no possible way to be healthy without eating meat is so pervasive that it sometimes drives me a little crazy.  Truth, studies and science be told, the healthiest most longest lived people in the world thrive on a plant based diet.  And no, vegans are not a bunch of weak waifs!

I absolutely loved an email I received about vegan athlete, Patrick Baboumian.  He recently carried the most weight ever and broke the world record for most weight carried for 10 meters.  You can read the article here.

October Hiatus

I will have very limited internet access for the month of October.  I hope to post but I can't make any promises.  I'm not falling off the face of the Earth and I'll tell you all about it when I get the chance!  Happy October!

Have a great Day!

Rise of the Superbugs, Dr. Greger's New Lecture and Reaching the GMO Rejection Tipping Point

Updates:

In my last post, I should have included this documentary.  I didn't see it until after I posted, however.   I love Dr. Mercola's site - so informative ( I butt heads with him on promoting animal products as healthful though.)  Please take a look at this documentary called, "Rise of the Superbugs."  I have discussed how bad it is for people to use antibiotics like they're drinking water.  It is causing serious problems for the future.  Luckily, we are an informed crowd and know about alternative home remedies of healing like juice fasting, hydrotherapy and herbs.  DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THEIR VALUE!  Make it a priority to get the books I have recommended just in case you need them.  Have high quality medicinal herbs stocked in your home.  You never know when they can come in handy.  Make it a priority to read as much as you can about these methods.

I'm gearing up to do my post on Charcoal.  I just attended a seminar in Silver Spring, MD to brush up on my facts.  I also picked up second charcoal book to cross reference.  I'm totally blown away but what this simple, humble product of nature is able to do.  I've heard it been called "black magic."  Yep, it's pretty darn close to it.  Next post!

Lecture by  Dr. Michael Greger.

Dr. Greger has recently posted his lecture, "More Than An Apple a Day: Combating Common Diseases."  It recently went viral!  His delivery is also quite humorous (not for younger viewers).  I love the power of a plant based diet in being able to prevent and reverse the most common diseases.  He reviews the latest nutritional literature and has daily, weekly videos that are very informative.  Check out his lecture here.

Reaching the GMO rejection tipping point

When I went to Jeffrey Smith's lecture in D.C.  He mentioned that when we reach a enough people who reject GMO's, manufacturers will begin dumping them from their products.  I keep hearing that we are not far off.  I recently saw a map of the world that showed how many countries have GMO labeling laws or have banned GMO foods altogether.  What is so disturbing is how the United States is completely blank on this map.   You may view the map here.  There must be some caustic miasma that hangs thick in the air in D.C. that makes all these politicians fall into a trance and forget their campaign promises.  I am not singling out any political party.  Both sides have their hands dirty with hush money.  This is why it is up to everyday people to reject GMO foods.  Do we really want the makers of DDT, Agent Orange and Roundup tinkering with the genetics of our food?  Certain businesses recognize the need to go GMO free.  Trader Joe's private label has been GMO free for some time now.  Whole Foods seems to be heading in that direction.  You can see where they stand on GMO's here.  Chipotle's will begin to label their GMO foods and eventually eliminating them from the menu altogether.   I say, let's support the businesses that are transparent and working towards eliminating GMO's from their foods.
As for the those that don't well, Kroger's will begin to carry GMO salmon.  Tsk Tsk Kroger!  If you eat salmon, you may want to consider getting Alaskan wild caught instead.

I recently read that wild animals prefer non- gmo foods as well.  Too cute!  Check it out here.

Have a great day!

Some Interesting Documentaries and a 10k Mud Run

It's been a couple of weeks since my last post.  Sorry.  My life has been very busy spending time with family.  My grandmother passed away in Guatemala so the kids and I spent time with my dad in Boston.  My sister joined us as well.  In the lapse of time I've noticed a few documentaries. They have caught my attention since they cover topics I have discussed in previous posts.  Here they are:

 Some Interesting Documentaries

I have mentioned my concern for the loss of bees.  This should concern everyone.  A loss of polinators means a loss of food production.  Shortly after I shared my concern, I noticed a documentary I had not seen.  This documentary highlights  a problem that is nothing short of alarming.  Don't count on your politician to rectify the situation, regardless of what side of the political aisle he/she may be on. The alarm must be sounded loudly at the grass roots level to raise awareness and demand that something be done about it.  Please watch the trailer to the film here.

The next film will be shown free of charge at the Roots Market in Olney, MD.  I will not be seeing this one because I just can't stomach it.  I cannot stand how animals are treated in conventional farms.  It sickens and haunts me to no end.  If people want to eat meat, I really don't have a problem with that.  But there is a big difference in how animals are raised in small organic farms as opposed to conventional corporately raised farms.  I do have strong feelings against the inhumane treatment of conventionally raised animals.  (This trailer really is tame.  Try watching Earthlings.  I couldn't even watch the trailer to that film.)  What becomes of a society that can care less about other creatures? Creatures also made by the hand of God?

Eventually dues need to be paid.  Case in point: In the Shenanandoah Valley, VA there are some conventionally raised chicken farms.  (My stomach turns every time I drive by.) Not far there is an organic farm. This farm was featured in the documentary film, "Food Inc."  The animals in the organic farm are happy, healthy and are raised humanely.  However, there was a great loss of thousands of chickens at the conventional farm.  No kidding! How can the conventional approach to raising animals be sustainable in the long run?  Of course they blamed their losses on the organic farm.  How they spun that story would be quite interesting!  Abuse nature, use chemicals with reckless abandon, abuse animals, in the end, we only hurt ourselves with poor health and the loss of our all important natural resources.  Being a lover of animals, I'm more than glad to just eat vegan.  Here is more information of the screening of this film at Roots.  Peacable Kingdom - The Journey Home trailer is viewable here.

My son has dyslexia and probably would be diagnosed with ADHD.  We chose the drug free route for our son.  Our choice requires a lot of sacrifice, but when I consider the alternative, it is a choice I have no regrets about.  I just spoke to a woman who had both her children on Ritalin.  She said that the the amount, type and frequency of the drugs only escalated.  But she felt pressured to medicate them by the school they attended.  One of her sons is now dead.  He became addicted to other forms of  recreational drugs and eventually committed suicide. Below is a documentary film that is very moving and incredibly informative. If you don't have the time to view all of it, at least watch the first ten minutes of it.  I watched the entire film and it was well worth the time it took to watch it.  The film is titled,"The  Drugging of Our Children."  You may view the entire film here  You may also be interested in this article by natural news which states that ADHD is an invented disease.  This is no surprise to me.  Take the time to watch this film, it is very eye opening!

 Pill Poppers documentary film
The last film I want to share with you is one produced by the BBC.  "Pill Poppers" exposes the fact that the production of medications is not an exact science but more like shooting from the hip and standing back to see what happens!  And why not invent some diseases along the way to sell more medications?   Very interesting!  View the youtube documentary here.

A 10k mud run

Lastly, I ran a 10k mud run in July (Merrell Down and Dirty Mud Run).  I can't tell you how thrilling it was for me.  In dealing with arthritis, I really wondered if I would be able to run again.  I was able to conquer my arthritis by altering my diet. It just reinforced my belief that our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made (psalm 139:14).  They are designed to heal in the most amazing way given the right tools and conditions.

Have a great day!

Monsanto, Needless Medical Procedures and the Sad Search for Integrity

When I was about 18 or 19 years old I picked up a copy of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables.  It was the unabridged version, all 1400 pages of masterful classic literature.  By the time I was done with this book, my emotions were reeling with the endless themes I came across.  So many of them!  Musicals can be an acquired taste for some, but I was no less impressed by Claude Michel Schonberg's exquisitely crafted musical rendition of this timeless tale.  He managed to encapsulate the story in three hours of memorable music that I found positively haunting.    I suppose the aspect I appreciate most in this story, and one of the character traits that I hold in the highest regard, is integrity.  Would this story have been as good if integrity were absent?  Without integrity society is left with nothing but heartless cut-throats clawing their way to the top.  It separates one who espouses it and sets him or her apart in such a marked way.  Maybe it stands out so much to me because when there is an absence of it, such dark ugliness can be the end result.

When I come across corporations like Monsanto I am just completely aghast at how evil they are.  Monsanto in particular parades around behind the guise of selfless humanitarianism. Rhetorically it sounds pretty good.  They supposedly exist to help eradicate hunger.  In actuality the truth about this corporation is far from that.  They have left devastation, human suffering and the failing health of millions in their wake.  What is frightening is how it seems that their end game is to control the world's food supply.  If you want to catch a glimpse of what Monsanto is about, I encourage you to watch this clip.  It is only about 10 minutes long. This clip pretty much sums it up. Another documentary that is very informative can be viewed here.  Monsanto has recently filled for immunity against litigation and has placed itself above the law.  Their representatives even wrote the legistlation!  Originally when I began this post, I was requesting that you send a message to Obama to veto this measure.  Unfortunately, I have since received an email that stated that Obama has already signed it into law.  Here is another article by Newsmax in regards to this story.  According to this article, it didn't even hit the congressional floor for discussion. Is this really the United States of America?  I thought this kind of thing only happened in dictatorial third world countries.

There is yet another facet to this problem that I find disturbing.  Apparently, we have recently lost the strongest voice of support for organic farming at the USDA.    It doesn't take a genius to be able to see problems down the pike. I personally plan to collect heirloom seeds for fruits, vegetables and medicinal herbs.  I don't ever want to come to the point where I cannot find the kinds of food I want to eat.  I like to see the glass half full, but there's nothing wrong with planning for the worst and hoping for the best.

I am suspicious of pharmaceuticals and conventional medicine.  There are times, such as with emergencies, that they are very necessary. But more often than not, people would do far better in seeking the root cause of their illness and searching for alternative methods for healing.  Above is a graphic for a documentary that you should watch titled Escape Fire.  Please watch the trailer.  Very interesting.

Lastly, there is a book that was recently published by Dr. Makary who is a surgeon at Johns Hopkins.  He candidly and openly discusses the fact that alarming medical mistakes occur in our hospitals. The name of the book is "Unaccountable".  Please take the time to watch his interview with Dr. Mercola here.

Sadly integrity has fast become a scarce commodity.  It is my opinion that everyday people like you and me are ultimately responsible for our own health. I appreciate guidance from those who are trained, but I don't like handing over my trust to someone else in helpless resignation expecting miracles - especially if they practice conventional medicine. When it comes to my health, the buck stops with me.  A trustworthy professional can help me find the root cause of my problem, but only I can make the necessary changes to my diet or lifestyle and put advice into action.  My challenge to you is to read, study and investigate.  Seek help, but know that you are the only one who ultimately can achieve the health you are looking for.

If you are currently looking for an alternative method for healing, here are some suggestions as to where you can begin your search.  Read Dr. Richard Schulze's books. Physician's Committee For Responsible Medicine has a list of practitioners they recommend.  The first site is holisticmedicine.org and the second is Dr. McDougall's list of physicians.  I also trust Michelle Ross, C.N.

Have a good day!

The Importance of Sleep

Updates
I received an email from Chris Wark which I wanted to share with you.  In this post he interviews filmmaker Ian Jacklin.  Ian recently launched his new film and site icurecancer.com. This guy is amazing!  He had me chuckling because of how he spoke in regards to the issue.  He absolutely does not mince words or tiptoe around a topic to avoid offending anyone. He brazenly lays it out flat and calls what he sees like it really is.  Please do watch the interview.  It is fifty minutes long.  If you don't have time to watch the whole thing, then at least watch the trailer to the film.  Excellent!

The Importance of Sleep
Sleep is one of the simple pleasure of life.  I love to sink into my pillow and enjoy drifting off to slumber. Doesn't everyone? Sleep is also crucial for good health. Our bodies go into repair mode while we sleep. They regenerate and repair damaged tissue and detoxify. We generate "feel-good" hormones that help to regulate our mood and reduce stress.  If you are watching what you eat and exercising, then guess when you lose weight?  The answer is while you sleep. After one bad night of sleep I look in the mirror and swear I look much older.  My energy gets sapped and my fuse shortens considerably. I covet a good night's sleep more than chocolate and that's saying a lot!

I wanted to share some tips and tidbits of information to focus on the importance of sleep, what we can do to enhance it and, hopefully, encourage you to determine to make it a priority.

Every hour of sleep you get before midnight is worth two afterward.  We produce human growth hormones as well as mood enhancing hormones in the hours of sleep before midnight. I suffered from depression the first year of each of my children's lives.  I felt like I was living in a dark cave those years.  I attribute that to a lack of sleep.  Not a fun time for me.

Sleep in a dark room.
Women who work the night shift are at a much higher risk for breast cancer than those who work day shifts. Somehow exposure to light at night and other lifestyle factors are what trigger breast cancer for some women.  The quality of my  sleep is always better if I can address this.  There is one type of nighttime light that is an exception to this rule.  What kind of light does not trigger cancer?  Moonlight, of course!  If you are jet lagged and need to fall into your regular circadian rhythm of sleep, spend time walking in the sun - especially at sunrise and sunset.

Guard your sleep time and space.
Guard your sleep time like your life depended on it because... it actually can.  Driving while sleepy is tantamount to drunk driving in my opinion. My Dad and I are prone to insomnia.  It can be absolutely awful! If your mate is a night owl and you are dealing with insomnia, send him/her to sleep in another room if they go to bed later than you.

Clear your sleeping area of work related items, electromagnetic radiation and clutter. Create a sleep sanctuary. At the very least, remove most if not all electromagnetic radiation. Too many people set their cell phones on their nightstands and then wonder why they can't sleep well. Unplug lamps, phones or anything that needs to be powered electrically. Televisions and their cables need insulation to avoid interference from radio air waves. It disrupts the picture quality and creates "snow" otherwise. These same air waves are interacting with our bodies' biochemistry. Such unnatural interactions are bound not to produce healthful outcomes.

One last thing to try in this category is to use natural bedding. Many people love the new car smell, not realizing that they are breathing in chemicals. New carpeting, furniture, mattresses, etc. emit chemical vapors that are harmful to the human body. Some even speculate that Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is linked to chemicals emitted by crib mattresses.

Consider grounding while sleeping.
This topic is an entire post in itself which I hope to do next time. Suffice it to say that the antidote to air wave/electromagnetic radiation is grounding/earthing. It may sound like crazy quackery until you see the studies. Amazing! I will expound upon this further in my next post. For now, view this clip from the Longevity Now Conferences. It is well worth the time to watch - it is so good. I have been grounding while sleeping for several months now. I barely experience lactic acid soreness from weight training  anymore and I do sleep much more soundly.

Go to sleep on an empty stomach.
I think that Americans have their meals planned all wrong. Quantity and timing can mean everything in terms of getting enough sleep and even weight loss. Most Americans have a light breakfast, medium quantity for lunch and a heavy dinner. Try switching this around. Have a heavier breakfast, keep lunch the same and enjoy a light dinner. You can consider even skipping a meal. The best meal to skip would be dinner. If you can't skip dinner, try having your dinner no later than 5 p.m. When you go to bed with an empty stomach your body will not have the burden of digestion while sleeping. I feel horrible if I ever go to sleep with a full stomach. I even have nightmares. If you are exercising, you're body can also go more easily into fat burning mode during sleep if you haven't eaten a meal late at night. Try it for a week and see what happens. I derive this information from the longest lived people on the planet. They typically eat only two meals a day or just have a light dinner.

Avoid stimulating foods or drinks before bedtime.
Also avoid concentrated raw nutrition such as superfoods, juiced fruits and vegetables. Believe me, they'll keep you awake. Instead of caffeinated beverages or chocolate, consider more relaxing drinks like chamomile tea. Foods with vitamin B6 help to enhance sleep. Valerian root works marginally well for me when I'm dealing with insomnia. It may work better for you. Alcohol may help in the process of falling asleep but it interferes with the body falling into  deeper levels of sleep.

Walk in the sun.
Sleeping at night is improved by a darker room, but it is also helped by spending time in the sun during the day. This is one sure-fire way of helping me have a solid night of rest. I have noticed that after a full day at an amusement park I sleep incredibly well. This happens because sunshine exposure helps the body to produce more melatonin. There are so many good reasons to spend time in the sunshine - from fighting the common cold to cancer. Consider a vitamin D supplement during the winter months. Unfortunately we cannot receive enough vitamin D from the sun during the winter months if we live in the northern part of the United States.

I just wanted to take a moment to say that healthful living is a journey of a lifetime. It is a journey in which you never arrive because if you do, you stop growing or learning. I am, by no means, a faultless example for health-promoting perfection. I do my absolute best and am learning just like everyone else. It may take a few months and sometimes years before I implement something I have learned. You sometimes need to let the information assimilate into your brain and mull around for a bit. The key is to never stop seeking and learning. Also, it's so important is to be kind to those in your circle. Nothing is more annoying than a sanctimonious, lecturing health nut. I believe in leading others by example and by inspiring others. Lecturing never works. Just some food for thought!

Enjoy the Journey!

Some Great Posts To Read

I subscribe to several blogs and alternative health sites.  I want to stay informed of the latest and greatest.  I set my Internet start page to Natural News and I move on from there to check my email.  It's a ton of information to sift through, but well worth the time it takes.  I don't read everything down to the last letter.  I give a quick glance over articles covering topics I already know about and understand and take more time for other articles with information that is new to me.  There are times I think, I wish I would have had that article to share when I did a post on so and so.  Well, this is a post dedicated to some really good posts that I have found to be very informative.

I recently did a post titled, "Chemicals in Body Care Products".  This was a very fun post for me. As far as I knew, I had some really clean products to share. Don't get me wrong - they are good, but then I saw another post where the author mentioned that she would never use any products on her skin that she couldn't eat.  Awesome! My kind of talk! One of her tips was to go without makeup.  Agh!  I think many ladies (and men) might cringe at that one.   I know I can be lazy about wearing makeup and wear it only once or twice a week. Turns out it isn't a bad thing - aside from scaring people with my bare, naked face - yikes!  I think her list should be printed out and used as go-to resource list.  Check it out here!

Sliced Aloe Leaf

Another recent post I wrote was How to Slow the Aging of Your Skin and Possibly Reverse It.  This was also a favorite of mine.  Most people think that it is not possible to do this.  When the torrent of public opinion flows decidedly in a certain direction, you'd better believe I'll be swimming upstream against it - that's just how I operate.  Go against the flow and slow the aging of your skin!  I saw this article on aloe vera and it just goes so well with that post that I had to share it with you.  My brother-in-law is a foodservice engineer.  He once spilled melted sugar on his face.  His father kept a slab of aloe on his skin at all times as he was healing.  He only removed the aloe leaf to change it for a fresh leaf.  His face should have been scarred for life but there is not a trace of scarring on his skin.  I'm trying to keep an aloe leaf  around at all times (I really should just buy a plant!).  I have been putting some in my green smoothies and smearing the goo on my skin.  I love, love, love the products that nature provides!

I liked this post I read recently on the foods you should include as you try to lose belly fat. My tips would include drastically minimizing sugar intake, eliminating or greatly reducing gluten from your diet, eating an alkaline diet rich with fruits and vegetables (75-80% raw).  I eat fruit low on the glycemic index from Monday to Friday.  (I'll indulge on sweeter fruit on the weekends.) Crunches do nothing to minimize belly fat.  Cardio workouts are the key to burning fat and obtaining a flatter abdomen.  I have never decreased raw, plant based fats such as avocados, olives and nuts from my diet - I just love them too much.  No, raw fats don't cause a problem for me.  I have noticed an increase in my fat burning potential when drinking green tea or juiced grapefruit.

If you have followed my blog for a while, you may know that I do not think the conventional approaches to cancer are effective and, in fact, cause cancer - tragically and horrifically ironic.  Here is another documentary you should see in regard to this topic.  Cut Poison Burn is a hard hitting documentary that exposes the cancer industry for what it is, a money making scam.  Please be warned, some of the images are disturbing.  Chris Wark has a very good post that I received recently in my email in regard to this topic.  In this post he discusses how radiation can make cancer cells more aggressive.  Check it out in the previous link.  If you are interested in reading further, read through my cancer file.  In these posts I share documentaries, alternative clinics and an alternative method for healing.

Last but not least is a topic I have not touched upon.  It is the topic of water flouridation.  I remember a time when I would blindly trust the powers that be.  I thought, surely the government and corporations such as big pharma, biotech industries, etc. have our best interest in mind when they go about their business doing what they do.  I have learned that we cannot take a back seat when it comes to our health.  We must be on the defensive and actively engaged in our health and well being.  This blog has helped me enormously to keep my focus.  I urge you, please take the time to check out this article and documentary (with excerts from: An Inconvenient Tooth). Watch the documentary embedded in this post.  It it an hour and 13 minutes long and worth every minute!  View the full documentary here.

There are so many good articles, I just don't have the time to share them all.  My husband thinks I shouldn't add so many topics in a single post. Forgive me, I can't help it sometimes!  Gotta pass on the info!

Enjoy the Journey!

Prop 37, Alkaline Water and Doctored

It was very hard for me to see the outcome of Prop 37 in California for several reasons.  Take a look at this article about how GMO's are responsible for the dramatic increase of gluten sensitivity as well as many other conditions not mentioned here. The fact that Prop 37 was defeated emphasized the fact that if an organization is powerful enough, they can fix an election.  This wasn't a proposition to outlaw GMO's, just to label them.  Those who spoke against Prop 37 had the audacity to say that these foods are safe.  If that is the case, why are so many countries outlawing GMO's?  Why hide the fact that certain foods contain GMO's?   The big power players pumped millions into spreading lies that labeling these foods would increase the cost of GMO foods.  Does it cost more to label something that contains bananas? oranges?  Yet, somehow they managed to pull it off.  The bright side of this issue is that the campaign process brought far more awareness to the topic.  So much so that high profile celebs and corporations are beginning to speak out against them.  Last I checked, we still have the ability to choose what to buy.  Jeffrey Smith, Founder of the Institute of Responsible Technology has fantastic tips and a non GMO shopping guide that you can download to your computer or phone to help you make the non GMO choice.

In response to my post "The Importance Of Drinking Pure Water" one of my readers sent me this clip on Kangen water. Thank you, Bill.  Raw food enthusiast, Canadian bodybuilding champ Wade Lightheart uses and promotes Kangen water as an integral part of his diet.  Like I said before, if I had thousands to spare, I would be tempted to get one.  I enjoyed Bill's Facebook page on healthful tips- check it out here.  I personally have not tried alkaline water from an ionizer and will not take a stance for or against it.  Your call, folks.  If you are looking for a low cost alternative, consider pH drops.

I just recently saw a documentary that was very good.  So many are coming out these days!  This information covers a topic that alternative therapists have known all along.  The medical establishment has had it out for the demise of non-medical therapies for a very long time, a fight that continues on to this day.  The infamous Morris Fishbein, was a relentless adversary to Harry Hoxsey, a man who provided an alternative effective treatment for skin cancer.  Fishbein was also the face of the A.M.A. from 1924-1950 and went after any therapy that would threaten the highly lucrative, financial monopoly on healing.  He is featured in this film.  Today chiropractic is widely accepted as a mainstream therapy.  It hasn't always been so.  I remember when chiropractic was a fringe therapy.  Please take the time to watch this excellent film, "Doctored."

You know how the routine goes with a doctor's visit.  You go, you get tested, you get a prescription and you see your doctor for all of ten minutes!  Cured!  Trouble is, when it comes to chronic conditions, I don't believe that drugs can cure anything.  They mask symptoms but the sickness is still there.  The original cause of the illness is never removed.  So what do you do when you want to get to the root cause of a sickness?  Who do you see?  I contacted Physician's Committee For Responsible Medicine and these are the resources they gave me.  The first is www.holisticmedicine.org  and the second Dr. McDougall's list of physicians.  Many thanks PCRM!  I also highly recommend very well informed nutritionist Michelle Ross.

Enjoy the Journey!

Facing Goliath- Monsanto

When most people think of GMO's or purchase their product, they don't realize how far reaching the implications are.  Many farmers lives have been destroyed by simply owning property next to another farm growing GMO crop.  In India, several farmers have committed suicide because it has destroyed their income and livelihood.  As we approach this coming election my thoughts and attention are directed to California where the fate of prop 37 hangs in the balance.  This initiative is for the labeling of GMO's in food products.  My hope is that California will pave the way for the rest of the United States. Yes, our health is affected by GMO's but the livelihood of hard working farmers is also affected if not obliterated.

Please take a time to watch this documentary, "David VS. Monsanto" which can be viewed free of charge until November 10.

What can you do?  Eat non GMO.  Post this info on your Facebook page.  Contact your friends in California and share Genetic Roulette and this documentary with them.  I'm crossing my fingers!

Healing Cancer World Summit and a New Documentary

I was planning to do a post on the importance of drinking water but there are so many good things that have popped up that I had to share them with you.  First is an article on cancer.  I don't agree with Dr. Mercola on everything.  For instance, I believe that a primarily plant based diet provides all essential nutrients needed by the human body and animal products are not necessary whatsoever.  However, there is a lot of common ground I share with Dr. Mercola and I would rather focus on that.  He posted on new cancer research findings that are pretty amazing.  I have always believed that chemotherapy accelerates the growth of cancer cells because it is so toxic.  Now research is showing that it actually makes cancer cells resistant to treatment.  As seen in a few of my previous posts, this does not surprise me at all.  Don't expect to hear about this on the evening news.  I do not trust main sources of information for info on health and nutrition .  I find that they will spout off whatever they are paid to spout off.  I would rather see sources that answer to no one and have nothing to lose for sharing the truth like natural news.

The next thing I wanted to share with you is The Second Annual Healing Cancer World Summit.  Why on earth did I not hear about it the first time around?  Anyhow, this time of year there are pink ribbons everywhere.  Like Chris Wark from Chris Beat Cancer blog, I do not support The Race for the Cure.  I believe it is a waste of money and resources to fuel one of the biggest scams of all time.  The powers that be will not allow for a cure because they are making an insane amount of money.  Take time out of your schedule, however, to view something that will not tax you financially and can help you become informed on natural methods of healing cancer.  It is such a shame that physicians and scientists that are making amazing discoveries have to risk their careers to share this all important information.  Of their many speakers, I recognize Kris Carr from Crazy, Sexy Cancer, Chris Wark from Chris Beat Cancer blog and Mike Adams from Natural News.

Lastly, there is a documentary that I believe everyone should watch.  I am very leery of pharmaceuticals.  There are some very necessary drugs, but are they all?  My son and I could be dead today had it not been for modern medicine to help me during childbirth.  How much of it is really necessary and how much has been pushed on us for profit?  The Greater Good explores the topic of vaccinations, a topic that has bothered me for a very long time.  Please take the time to watch it!

Have a great weekend!

The Dangers of GMO's and an Interview With Jon Gabriel

The wide-eyed innocence of a child is something that tugs powerfully at my heart.  Any decent human being's innate tendency is to protect and defend the defenseless, especially children.  What then could possess someone or an organization to see a beautiful child and see only profit?  I'm not talking about starting up a clothing line for children, I mean knowingly doing something to imperil the health and well-being of a child. Would you call that monstrous?  I would.  Please take a look at this article which discusses that GMO foods are being tested on children.  There is also a documentary that I hope you will take the time to see.  This film features Jeffery Smith, founder of Institute For Responsible Technology and author of Seeds of Deception.  In this film he discusses  the effects GMO's are having on the health of the U.S. population.  Mutating the perfect genes of our God given food supply is nothing short of ludicrous, reckless, irresponsible and evil.    Patenting plants is insane, what next- air?  Genetic Roulette, will be showing on Jeffrey Smith's site for a limited time only (September 15-22).

The next film I would like for you to see is the complete interview of Jon Gabriel from Hungry for Change.  He discusses his journey toward health.  After bouncing around from diet to diet, he realized he needed to understand why he couldn't lose weight to begin with.  Once informed with the necessary information, he was then able to shed the excess weight.  Take the time to watch this very informative interview.  This clip can be viewed free of charge until October 6.  You can also go to his site, gabrielmethod.com

Two Must See Documentaries

In life, we often come across information which we are expected to believe without questioning it.  I believe in exercising our brains and doing our own investigation.  I like to pass along information to my readers, but please know that I consider this blog to be a platform from which my readers will feel impelled to springboard off of what I have shared and do their own investigating.  Always question, always find out for yourself until you are satisfied with what you are learning.  If you have come across information that disagrees with what I have shared and believe it, great!  If you happen to agree with me, great!  I think, however, we become susceptible to being "taken" when we buy into conventional "wisdom" without ever questioning it.  Just because information comes from a respected institution doesn't mean that it is the whole truth.  Anyone following me here?

Here are two documentaries I would love for you to see.  The first is Burzynski.  Here is the trailer for this film.  Very interesting!  Again, you can draw your own conclusions about this film.

Next is the  film Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days   People with type 2 and type 1 diabetes effectively reversing their disease?  Wow, is that really possible?  Do your own investigating!

Free Screening of Forks Over Knives

You are invited to a free screening of Forks Over Knives which will be showing on Sunday, April 22 at 3:00 PM.  The screening will be hosted by the Olney Seventh-day Adventist Church located at 4100 Olney Laytonsville Road, Olney, MD 20832.  The film screening is sponsored in part by the Potomac Book and Health Food Store (Adventist Book Center) of Silver Spring, MD.  The representatives of the ABC will have vegan cookbooks and raw recipe books for sale after the screening. They will also host a Q & A session.  I have asked them if they could bring some chia seed to sell.  (You may remember how much I love chia pudding.)  The ABC carries chia seed at a very reasonable price!  Join us to watch a very informative film that documents the experiences and studies (the China Study in particular) of Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn and Dr. T. Colin Campbell.  You may remember Dr. Esselstyn as one of the physicians who advised former President Bill Clinton in his recent lifestyle changes.

Go to olneyseminars.org for more information.

I hope to see you there!

Food Matters Documentary and Some Great Deals at Costco

FOODMATTERS is a fantastic documentary that is an absolute must-see.  You may view it for free on their website this week only. Registration is required.  Go to foodmatters.tv to view the trailer.  Make yourself some herbal tea, get comfortable and prop up your feet.  This information is critically important.  Tell others to watch it as well!

Also, I stopped by the Gaithersburg, MD Costco today  and saw that they were having Blendtec demos and were stocking Vitamix blenders.  People have their reasons as to which of these blenders is superior.  Truth is, they both are tough as nails, long-lasting, excellent blenders.  They are worth every penny they are sold for.  I am partial to Vitamix because I was introduced to it first.  My friends and family own them, so naturally I went with Vitamix.  I love, love, love my Vitamix and I use it everyday, several times a day.  The great thing is, that you don't have to pay top dollar if you purchase it at Costco.  The price for the Vitamix was 374.99 and the Blendtec was 379.79.  To top things off, I also saw that at the Blendtec demo table, they were selling a gallon of Xagave (raw organic agave nectar) for 29.99 - a steal!  Check your local Costco to see when they may be coming to your area.
